Dampers for these systems are used to balance air flow and control air
volume. They are industrial duty and have ball bearings on each shaft.
Blades can be single thickness or airfoil to minimize pressure drop.
Materials of manufacture include carbon steel (painted), stainless
steel, and aluminum. Operators are selected based upon required torque
and are manual quadrant, manual gearbox, pneumatic or electric. Damper
linkage is usually outside the airstream to permit service access and to
ensure long trouble free operation. Dampers can also be supplied for
fire suppression media containment. This prevents the fan from blowing
the chosen fire protection media out of the system.
